Obituary of Ronald "Leslie" Blaikie

Please share a memory of Ronald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Les (Ronald) Blaikie, 81, of Greenwood, passed away unexpectedly and went to be with the love of his life, Catherine, (July 18th, 2015) on Tuesday, May 24th. As a young man, Les worked with the bank and then the Canadian National Railroad in Truro NS. Soon after meeting and being married to Catherine, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces and served locally and overseas in the area of Air-Born Radar Tech and instructor with the Argus and Arora. Les shared his love for the military and his love for his family so very well during his career, when he retired he spent a bit of time doing some small T.V. repair jobs and much of his time working on his honey-do list. He and Catherine enjoyed Florida winters, rightly labeling themselves Snowbirds. Les loved his life with Catherine, his wife of almost 60 years, his family and his friends. He lived quietly in a world that was so busy, always taking time to share a story, a laugh or a glass of beer, and sometimes all of the above. Les will be missed so much by his family, and equally so by his friends, he was a man that will live in our hearts forever. Les is survived by his three children Debbie Defalco from Spryfield, NS Ron Blaikie, (Mary) Billtown, N.S., Reverend Larry Blaikie (Anita), Cornwall, Ont. Six Grandchildren Sasha Labonte (Nolan) Atlanta Georgia, Jason Blaikie (Christine) Croatia, Kyle Blaikie, Taiwan, Jennifer Harnish (Arles) Hubbards, NS Johnathan Blaikie, Dartmouth N.S., Jessica Blaikie,(Kevin Moser), Dartmouth and five amazing greatgrandchildren. Also, survived by his Sister Freda McCormick. Preceded by his sisters Shirley Dumphy and Nina Patterson.
