Orley Lester Meister, 73 of New Ross N.S., passed away August 5, 2016 at his home in New Ross. Born November 26, 1942 in New Ross, N.S. he was the son of the late Oliver C. Meister and Muriel L. (Parker) Meister) Hiltz.
Orley worked in the woods most of his life and was very much at home there. He loved to hunt, fish and trap. Very knowledgeable in woodworking, making axe handles, boat oars and snow shoes to mention a few.
Orley is survived by his son, Shawn Scott Meister of Fredericton, NB; sisters Shirley (Harris) MacAskill of New Ross; Janette (Francis) Moore of Aylesford, NS; Velma (William) Murray of Alberta; Linda (Warren) Pearen of Ontario; Marian (Glen) Walker of New Ross and sister-in-law Rita (Bud) Meister of New Ross; brothers Donald (Diane) Meister of Cape Breton; Gene (Shirley) Meister of Greenwood; Vernon (Carol) Meister of New Minas; Phillip (Holly) Meister of Ontario and David Meister of Ontario.
He was predeceased by brothers Roger Meister and Vaughan (Bud) Meister and step-father Vance Hiltz.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, New Ross Chapel, 4935 Hwy 12 New Ross (902-689-2961). A Graveside Service will be held on September 11, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the New Ross Baptist Cemetery.
