Dear Family Members
My sister Irene Christie and I, Nancy Burbidge wish to extend our sincerest sympathy.
We met Pinky manny years ago when we were all very much younger. Our dad Tom Burbidge was very close to Leah and Karl having grown up together in Lower Canard and probably somehow related. The pope always referred to us collectively or singularly as 'The Burbidgees'. I believe back in the 30s Dad and his brother Bill frequently saw Leah in Boston as they were all there together. When Leah came home for her vacations we visited her often. Leah gave me a sister set, Jill and Jinny 'Vogue' dolls, the year I was ten. She took me to the parlour and here they were lined up on the settee dressed beautifully as bride and bridesmaid. She had made their dresses. I still have this precious gift.
I've often wondered when I heard your mother was living in the house if she had kept up Leah's tradition of filling the fern planter with the wonderful smelling bay leaves.
Even though we haven't seen your mother in many many years we would often run into people in Wolfville who would mention her name. Their reference to her would always bring back sweet memories of family connections remembered from our youth. Nancy
