Obituary of John Ronald Stewart

John "Ron" Ronald Stewart, 74 of Pigott Lake, formally of College Grant passed away on Tuesday November 15, 2016 in the Hants Community Hospital surrounded by those who love and adore him. Ron was a member of the Metropolitan Toronto Police Association and a retired Sergeant of the Metropolitan Toronto Police – Intelligence Services "56". He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Helen (Martin) Stewart; sons Chris (Jackie) Fraser; Ron (Ellen) Stewart; daughter Melodie (Steve) Joy; 12 very special grandchildren from Alberta, Ontario and Nova Scotia who loved their Papa Ron very much; brothers Charlie; Ned; Terry; Donnie; Brian and sisters Ann and Marion. Ron was predeceased by his parents Hugh and Katherine Stewart and brother Jerome. A special thanks to the amazing doctors, nurses and support staff we had the privilege of meeting on this long journey through a very broken healthcare system. We are particularly grateful to Dr. Debbie Pestell and the brilliant team at the Hyperbaric Chamber, arguably the best kept medical secret in Eastern Canada. Dr. Lori Wood for becoming dad's champion and offering us options and hope at a challenging time during his journey. Amber Phillips in Palliative Care, our angel who provided us with education, resources and compassion. Finally, the nursing team on unit 200 at Hants Community Hospital, for taking such good care of dad and helping us find some joy during one of the most difficult moments of our lives. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr (902-679-2822).
