Obituary of John Norris Connell

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John Norris "Jack" Connell, 80 of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2017, in Ocean View Continuing Care Centre. Born in Woodstock, New Brunswick, he was a son of the late Norris and Beatrice (Fields) Connell. Jack retired in 1994 after more than 45 years in banking and business. He enjoyed 11 years volunteering post-retirement on the Tartan Team at the Halifax International Airport Authority. Known for his sense of humour and talent for joke gifts, Jack loved golfing, woodworking, brisk walks in Shubie park with close friends, family (and doggies), and great coffee times with his banker buddies. Many activities were supported by amazing friends and volunteers who gave their time, kindness and support to both Jack and Pat. Special thanks to the extraordinary staff and volunteers at Ocean View for the exceptional care he received. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Pat; son, Jeff; daughters Krista and Gina (Craig MacDonald), all of Halifax. Lovingly known as "Bucky" by his grandchildren Arianne Soucy, Ben Soucy and Cole MacDonald, he is also survived by a brother-in-law, three sisters-in law, and eight nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved brother A. B. (Bardy) Connell. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr (902-679-2822). Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 24, at Woodlawn United Church in Dartmouth. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Jack may be made to the Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation in support of Alzheimer's research, or to the Ocean View Foundation, Eastern Passage.
