Winston Spencer McCullough, 72 originally of Sandy Cove, NS. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Winston Spencer McCullough on February 3, 2017 in the Valley Regional Hospital with family by his side. Dad was born in Sandy Cove, NS on February 4, 1944 and was the son of the late Edmond and Doris (Stanton) McCullough. In 1963, Dad married our mother, Charlene Swift, and moved to Brier Island. Throughout his life, Dad made his living on or around the sea, first as a fisherman and then with the Canadian Coast Guard. In 2002, he retired from the Coast Guard Cutter 102 out of Westport and moved to Canaan, Kings County, NS. Dad was an avid hunter and looked forward to the annual hunting trips to Bass River with Jody and "the Boys" where he made many great friends such as Logan and Linda Elliot. Dad also enjoyed golfing and taking long drives on the back roads of the Annapolis Valley with his beloved wife, Charlene. Dad is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Charlene (Swift) McCullough; daughters Tanya McCullough; Shevaun (Brian) Clelland; sons Darrell McCullough; Jody (Enza) McCullough; grandchildren Kelsey; Hannah; Spencer; Abbigail; brother Guy (Angie) McCullough; sisters Marlyin Handspiker; Lillian (John) Nunn; Jackie (Curtis) Weir; brother-in-law Ted Swift; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Dad was predeceased by his brother Steven and twin brother Franklin; father-in-law and mother-in-law Wilfred and Maxine Swift; brother-in-law Roland Swift. The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at the Valley Regional Hospital for the wonderful care he received as well as the VON and Continuing Care. We would also like to thank Darrell Anderson for his kindness at a difficult time and a very special thank you to Bryan and Cheryl Theriau who were wonderful neighbours and friends to Dad and Mom, always there to lend a helping hand. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr (902-679-2822). Cremation has taken place and a service will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society Nova Scotia Division or the Alzheimers Society of Nova Scotia
