Obituary of Paul Malcolm Pinch
Please share a memory of Paul to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with incredible sadness that the family of Paul Malcolm Pinch, age 76, of Wolfville Ridge, announces his passing on Monday, March 13, 2017 at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, NS.
Born in West Brooklyn, he was a son of Alfred and Janet (Kennedy) Pinch. Paul's early career was as a farm labourer with Stirlings, then a bricklayer and plasterer with Carey Brothers Masonry. Later he became a Fruit and Vegetable Inspector with Agriculture Canada, then CFIA.
Paul was hardly ever idle whether playing or umpiring softball games, coaching Wolfville Minor Hockey teams, square dancing with the Haley Dancers, sawing and splitting wood, or tending his vegetable garden. Family and friends will remember his support of Acadia University Men's Hockey and the Toronto Blue Jays.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Beatrice (England); daughter Kimberlyann (John) Pitman, Falmouth; son Randal (Joanne), Halifax. Granddaughter Maggie was his pride and joy. He loved to watch her play hockey, ride her pony then horse, or attend her music performances.
Paul is also survived by sisters Joyce (Vernon) Pinch, Walbrook; Shirley (Wayne) Duggan, Murphy Lake; brother Samuel (Florence) Pinch, New Minas; several nieces and nephews including godson Jeremy Pinch.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister Janice White and nephew, Joseph Pinch.
A visitation will take place on March 17, 2017 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm in the Wolfville Funeral Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held on March 18, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Gaspereau Baptist Church, Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, family would appreciate memorial donations made to Stephen Russell Cystic Fibrosis Fund or Valley Regional Hospital Foundation. Online condolences can be made to: Stephen Russell Memorial Fund, c/o David Ripley, 2130 Blink Bonnie Terrace, Halifax, NS B3L 3E9. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, Wolfville Chapel, 568 Main Street Wolfville (902-542-4656).
