Obituary of Patricia Lenora Knowles

Patricia Lenora Knowles, 91, of Windsor, passed away March 22, 2017 in the Wolfville Nursing Home. Born Patricia Hunt, in Detroit, Michigan, Pat was raised by her mother Agnes Crudge and adopted father Reginald Crudge in Tillsonburg, ON. She married Benjamin Alan Knowles on May 12, 1949.
Pat was a loving wife, mother and grandmother with spirtual ties to the Christ Anglican Church and a member of the IODE in Windsor, N.S.. She loved spending time with her grandchildren Cory, Patricia, Angelique and Andrew. Pat successfully owned and operated the Ka-Be Dress Shop Limited in Windsor from Dec. 31, 1945 until her retirement.
When her children were young they spent summers at the family cottage at Avonport Beach and her love of camping took the family to campgrounds all over the Maritimes, Quebec and Ontario. In later years, she took a permanent camp site in Brackley Beach, PEI at Vacationland Park. When her husband was less able to travel they enjoyed summers at the Land of Evangeline Family Camping Resort in Grand Pre.
She also enjoyed the theatre, playing cards (Skip Boo) with anyone who would play and loved to chat and laugh. Pat was a very kind and generous person. She was a community volunteer and always willing to help anyone in need, including taking in the stray friends her sons brought home. In later years, she resided at the Gladys Manning Retirement Apartments followed by a short stay in the Wolfville Nursing Home.
She is survived by her children Reginald Steven Knowles (Jeanie Viner) of Berwick and Philip Alan Knowles (Linda Eaton) North's Corner, Canning; grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Pat was predeceased by her husband Benjamin Alan Knowles and her twin brother Patrick Leo Crudge.
Cremation has taken place and a family service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society of Canada or the Canadian Hearing Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr. (902-679-2822).
