Obituary of Kenneth Reid Massimo Hennessy

Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Reid Massimo Hennessy, born October 10, 1936. Ken died peacefully on June 12 in Bridgetown, Nova Scotia after a courageous battle with cancer. Ken was the proud father of Sarah, Ashley (James) and John (Lee). He leaves behind four treasured grandchildren, Muriel, Brodie, Gladstone and Lyla. Ken also leaves behind his siblings Barbara (Harry), Bruce (April), Lynn (Dan), Howard (Nancy) and Peter (Cheryl). He returned to Bridgetown for his final years and enjoyed the company of his many old and new friends who welcomed him back to the community. Nephew Jay Marshall and friend Joan Wheeler made his return to Bridgetown especially meaningful. A special thank you to the palliative care team, Victorian Order of Nurses, Soldier's Memorial Hospital staff and local paramedics. His professional career as a lawyer included partnership at Toronto's Payton, Biggs and Graham and Cassels Brock followed by a role as legal counsel at Transamerica Canada. Ken was a dedicated and longstanding Director at the Canadian Hearing Society. His knowledge of European history was both profound and a life-long passion. Ken had a joy for gardening. He enjoyed travel and the good life. His collection of antique maps, china and furniture was superb. Most of all he enjoyed his family and friends. He surrounded himself with special people. Ken was at his best sharing his wit and humour at a good cocktail party. He will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, he asked that donations be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses or to Toronto's Sick Kids Hospital for leukemia research. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr. (902-679-2822).
