Obituary of Lorraine Annie Prest

Lorraine Annie Prest, 88 passed away June 14, 2017 in the Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Halifax on February 27, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Cyril and Daisy (Little) Prest. She is survived by a wonderful friend, Roberta Bishop. She was predeceased by close friend, Minnie Eaton. Lorraine had a hard start to her life. She was in a county home when she was very young. She came to live in Roberta's parents' home and grew up with Roberta and Minnie. As the parents aged, Minnie moved back into the homestead to care for her parents. She asked that Lorraine stay due to being her home for so long, as well as she may be able to assist so Minnie could continue to work outside the home. Lorraine and Minnie became close friends and after the parents passed away, she remained in the home with Minnie. When the time came that Minnie passed away, Roberta and her husband took over the family home. Again, Lorraine was asked to stay due to this being her only home for so long. One day, Lorraine lost her balance and fell onto a lit fire stove. After seeing the doctor it was advised to place her into the Morristown Sea Breeze Home. Her stay there was very short and she moved to Grand View Manor in Berwick, where she lived the remainder of her life, approximately nineteen to twenty years. Lorraine may never have married or had a family of her own, but she had a fulfilling life with the wonderful family that took her in as their own. A Graveside Service will be held on June 30, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Berwick Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
