Eileen Layton Ashley, 95 of Avonport passed away June 29, 2017 in the Wolfville Nursing home. She was the only child of the late John and Frieda (Hughes) Coffill. Eileen lived her entire life in Avonport. She was a hard worker and during this time of year, Eileen would be very involved in her vegetable garden. She loved to support her community as was well known for her grocery tape collecting. All the proceeds were given to the local community halls as well as the SPCA. Eileen had been a resident of the Wolfville Nursing Home for six and a half years. The family would like to thank them for their compassion and care. Eileen is survived by her longtime partner Howard Hiltz and several cousins. She was predeceased by her parents. A visitation will take place on July 5, 2017 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm with a Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 pm in the Wolfville Serenity Chapel, Rev. Gary Manthorne will officiate. Interment will take place in the Willowbank Cemetery, Gaspereau Road, Wolfville. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Wolfville Chapel, 568 Main Street Wolfville (902-542-4656).
