Obituary of Harry Theodore "Ted" Naugler

Please share a memory of Harry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Harry Theodore "Ted" Naugler, 88 of Greenwood, NS, passed away on July 10, 2017 at the Mountain Lea Lodge in Bridgetown NS, where he was a resident for several months. Born in Bridgewater, NS on July 30, 1929, he was the son of the late Harry Albert and Grace Darling Naugler of Bridgewater. Ted joined the sea cadets at the age of 13, the army reserves at 17, and began his 30 year career with the RCAF, Canadian Military Forces, when he was 20. He trained in Alymer and Camp Borden, Ontario prior to being posted to Rockcliff, Ont, Lachine, PQ and McCord airbase in Tacoma, Washington. In 1954, he was in St Hubert, PQ, servicing F86 Sabers. In 1954, Ted was stationed in CFB Greenwood to work on the then, new, Argus aircraft. In 1962, Ted and his family were posted to Cold Lake Alberta and then to 4FW wing, Germany in 1964, to service the F104 fighter jets. In 1967, Ted and his family were transferred back to CFB Greenwood where he retired in 1979, at the rank of Warrant officer in charge of Engine Bay. After retiring, Ted spent many years working at and managing the Wood Hobby Shop on CFB Greenwood. Always a craftsman in woodworking, Ted also was an avid gardner, fisherman and hunter, knowing every back road in Kings and Annapolis counties. His bark was larger than his bite; he held a witty sense of humour. He was a Toronto Bluejay, Argonaut and Maple Leaf fan, who seldomly missed a game on TV. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Zelda Grace of Greenwood; sons John (Barbara) Naugler of Hampton, NB; David (Susan) Naugler of Calgary, AB; daughter Debbie (Jim) Haugen of Seattle, Washington; sisters Beverly (Bob) Chapman of Halifax; Donna (Herbie) Eagle of Bridgewater; Sharon DeWolfe of Halifax; Tina (George) Robar of Halifax; grandchildren Luke, Zackary Ted, Jake, Kristy, Mathew, Samara, Mattison, and John Theodore (JT); great grandchildren Jeremy and Taylor. Ted will be greatfully missed by all who were close and cared for by him. Ted was predeceased by his father, mother and brother-in-law Peter DeWolfe of Halifax. Many heartfelt family thank yous to the Valley VON and staff at the Kentville Hospital, Dr. Amanda Smith and nursing staff of the Middleton Hospital, and to his friends Al, Patches and the Nurses and Staff of the Mountain Lea Lodge, for all of their support to Ted and Zelda over the years. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr. (902-679-2822).
