My sincere condolences to the Folker Family...as said by many already we all have numerous memories of Steve growing up in Hantsport. I cannot remember there ever being a time he felt sorry for himself and was a inspiration to us all. I was in the hospital once at the same time he was and we came to his room for a visit...as time went on we started to smell something....no one could figure out where it was coming from or the cause.....finally with his silly laugh he figured out one of his feet was on the heater and the skin on his foot was burning.... he suffered quite a burn to his right foot. I had my 1st and only car accident one night dropping him off at home on Main Street. I backed out and into Buddy McCully's red and white Ford Comet...I was so upset and he was laughing at me to no end...thank god it only cost $10.00 to fix the small dent....Joyce,Dawn,Debbie,Harvey and Wendy...Steve was one of a kind and will never be forgotten by his many friends.

Steve’s former colleagues at Aon Inc (previously Aon Reed Stenhouse and A&A (Alexander and Alexander) and previous to that Reed Stenhouse Inc.) extend our sincere condolences to Yvonne and Steve’s family.
Steve was our co-worker at Reed Stenhouse for many years in the 80’s and 90’s – and Dawn worked at our office too for a shorter time.
Steve was a dedicated and loyal member of our staff – he commanded our mail room and communications base with the authority of a general – he operated a Telex machine at 50 wpm before the days of Fax machines and computers. Always ready with a quip or a pun he was a pleasure to work with, a gentle-man among the men and popular with the girls. At our Christmas parties and staff functions Steve would regale us with stories and jokes. One memorable one from his younger days was about a dance he went to at the Fire Hall. He delayed going in as apparently a fight was going on inside –when suddenly a pot- bellied stove came flying through the window and barely missed him – at which he decided it was safer inside. With Steve’s stories, mainly about his beloved Annapolis Valley, we never knew which were fact and which were fiction, but it didn’t matter – Steve was part of our office family. We missed him when his mobility challenges forced him to retire, and those of us who knew him so well will miss him now and cherish the memories we have of him.

My heartfelt sympathy to Yvonne and the Folker family. I have many fond memories of Steven. Growing up in the same neighbourhood my brother and I spent a lot of time of time with him. Whether it was riding our bikes, playing hockey, hide and seek, playing at the juice plant or on the gypsum hill he always kept up with us. No one else could tell a story like Steven and his laughter was contagious. His determined spirit and sense of humour made him a friend to all. You will be missed.

We were so saddened to hear of Steve's passing.
He was a true inspiration to everyone who knew him. He along with his family faced all the challenges life gave him. We were pleased to read of the artistic talents he developed during the non biking months. And who can forget the winter carnival performance "Put Another Log on the Fire" with Steve and the two Pete's !!
That fantastic smile will never be forgotten!
Rest in peace Stevie! We love you.

Although my time spent with uncle Steve was not as much as I would have liked, the memories I have will be cherished. He was a beautiful person and it's obvious that everyone could see that. I love hearing all of the great stories of him from my family and feel him as a kindred spirit.
All of us here on the west coast are in mourning along side with everyone back east. All our love and thoughts are being sent that way.
Rest in peace uncle Steve and may you ride on in paradise.

Heartfelt sympathy is sincerely extended to each of you. Being a few years younger, I did not know Steve well but I was aware that he had a great sense of humor and a tenacious spirit. I do have a great memory of the winter carnival variety show at the school of Steve and Peter Johnston performing a hilarious skit; Steve pretending to be a puppet sitting on Peter's lap and Peter pretending to be a ventriloquist.
I am sure you each have your own wonderful memories and that he meant so much to each of you. May your memories comfort you during this difficult time.
Thinking of you, Krista (Bishop) Myles

We will always have the memory of Stephen sitting in his garage and the big wave each time we would pass on the bike. He told us to stop in sometime instead of waving and driving by. Yvonne, Joyce and Family....He certainly was special. When we growing up together we never thought of "Jake" as disabled. He was too damn funny and full of it. He surely was one of the guys. I have some great memories of him growing up....
We, unfortunately grew apart as we got older but I always considered him a friend.
I can honestly say I was hoping to see him at the Hantsport Music Fest and was excited about that. It was a hard day, but we went on cause he always managed to go on.
He will be remembered.
