Elizabeth Calhoun Logan, 105 of Kentville passed away on July 23, 2017 in the Evergreen Home for Special Care. Born May 1, 1912 in Fort Wayne, Indiana; she was the daughter of the late Lorne and Sadie (Calhoun) Logan. Elizabeth was an extremely intelligent and self sufficient woman. In 1934, she graduated from Acadia University and in 1937, she became a graduate of Yale University. Elizabeth showed her caring side as a teacher and practitioner at children's hospitals in Chicago, Boston and Montreal. This led her to be appointed director of McGills School of Graduate Nurses. In 1961, Elizabeth was sent to Denmark as a consultant for World Health Services. From there she went on to be Chairperson of such associations as the Ethics Committee of the Canadian Nurses, Education Committee of the Association of Nurses for the Province of Quebec and of the Montreal Nursery School. Elizabeth was a true believer of women making their own way and remained a strong supporter of the Women's Club at Acadia University and NDP Party for as long as she was able. Elizabeth was known as an easy-going person and had risen through the ranks of her profession, proving that hard work and dedication can be greatly rewarded. She served as a great role model to many, showing when you want something all you need to do is go after it. She is survived by her nieces Dianna (Trenholm) Chesley of Wolfville; Sylvia (Trenholm) Milne of Paradise; great-nephews Scott Milne of Kentville; Trevor Milne of Fredericton, NB; great-nieces BobbiLynn Milne Bezanson of Hantsport; Christy (Chesley) Lendhart of Ottawa, ON; Allison (Chesley) Shaw of Vancouver, BC and seven great great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Elizabeth was predeceased by her sister Lois (Logan) Trenholm. Cremation has taken place and there will be no service by request.
