Obituary of Richard Wayne LaPierre

Richard Wayne LaPierre of Garlands Crossing, Dartmouth. Born in Sweets Corner to the late Lawrence & Ruby LaPierre (Corbett), passed away peacefully at the age of 74, on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Dartmouth General Hospital. Married to Frances (Hartt) for 54 years, they had 4 children: Dwayne (Kathryn), Darlene (Travis), Richard (Brigitte) & Michael (Melissa). His pride and joy were his grandchildren: Katie, Steven, Sabrina, Kyle, Ryan, Amanda, Tyler, Ayden, Noah, Ethan & Ayden. Each one held a special place in his heart. He is also survived by his brother Owen, sister in law Rita, sister in law Mary, sister in law Heather, daughter in law Bonnie. Predeceased by sister Edna, sister in law Lillian, brother Earl, brother Bob & brother in law Nelson Burgess. He never lost his sense of humour and always enjoyed visiting with friends and family. He loved watching the Blue Jays play and was known for his home runs as a young man. He worked as a heavy equipment operator, working for Municipal Construction, Ricky Sterling, Harold Lavers and Department of Transportation. It is a blessing to know he is at peace, he will be missed dearly. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Richard's Life will be held on Thursday May 10, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at 5154 Hwy #14, Martock. Memorial Service and burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that Memorial donations be made to the Halifax Dialysis Program or SPCA. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822). Please remember to sign your donor card.
