Leo Edward Vaughan, 82 of Hantsport passed away May 9, 2018 in the Hants Community Hospital with his family by his side. He worked at Minas Basin and Keys Fibre for 45 years and retired on January 31, 1998. Leo resided in Hantsport since he was seven years old. He loved to help others when he wasn't working and helped several friends build their homes. He loved getting together with family and friends, playing music and singing, especially gospel music. Leo worked with the Navy League for a couple of years. He looked after the "youth dances" for several years, also helping with the adult dances and bingo held in the Union Hall. He was a Shamrock fan and loved watching his grandchildren play baseball, soccer and basketball. He played ball when he was younger. He was involved with his church and on several committees. He was a cursiesta and worked on many cursillo weekends was involved with the Alfa Program. Leo was a great husband and father and would do anything he could for is children. Loved getting scratch tickets and teasing friends and family. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Joyce (Grimm); daughters Terry, Kim, Jackie (Tim), Margie (Doug) and Cassandra (Craig); son Eddie (Tammy); grandchildren Joel, Jr., Tabatha, Mandy, Brenda, Caleb, Jed, Jo-Jo, Brittany, Megan, Zoe, Paige, Brittany, Samantha, Jennifer, Bronwyn, Matthew, Adrian, Jessie and Taylor; great grandchildren Jacob, Jonah, Jorja, Josephine, Joel 3rd, Tristen, Reece, Raya, Kaitlyn, Chris, Macheala, McKenzie, Jace, Landa Lionel, Ryder Lee, Peyton Joyce, Carter, Dillon, Kyle, Dana, Alina and Riley; sisters Ella Kennelly and Shirley Skipper; brothers Royce (Florence) and Eric (Ruth). Leo was predeceased by his parents Leora (Tracy) and James; daughter Karen; sisters Gwen Crane, Chris Boudreau and infant sister Sylvia; brothers Arthur and Clyde; brothers-in-law George Kewelly and Peter Crane. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday May 12, 2018 at 3:00 pm in the Saint Andrew's Anglican Church, 59 Main St, Hantsport, NS. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Wolfville Funeral Chapel, 568 Main Street, Wolfville, B4P 1E5 (902-542-4656).
