Obituary of Michael John Finnigan

Michael John Finnigan of Dartmouth passed away suddenly at home with his wife at his side on Thursday, May 17, 2018. Born in Halifax, on October 2, 1950, he was a loving husband of 38 years to Janice (Zwicker) Finnigan; father to Natalie (Finnigan) Watt and Melissa Finnigan; grandfather to Hunter (10), Rylee (6) and Axel (4); son of Velma Finnigan; big brother to Pat, Terry, Danny, Anne-Marie, and Susie; several nieces and nephews and predeceased by his father, Arthur Finnigan. He proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces with the Constructional Engineer Branch as a Naval Firefighter for 38 years taking his family on a lifetime adventure coast to coast and over seas to Lahr, Germany where everlasting memories were created. Always thinking of others before himself, he was an extremely attentive husband and the greatest dad and "Poppy" that one could dream of. A friend to all, he never hesitated to lend a helping hand and couldn't go anywhere without seeing someone he knew and break into a full conversation. He will be sadly missed every single day. A Celebration of Mike's live will be held on Wednesday May 23, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Woodlawn United Chuch, 54 Woodlawn Road, Dartmouth. A reception for friends and family will follow in the hall downstairs. A visitation and opportunity to share stories will be held in Woodlawn United in room A & B on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
