Obituary of Marion Louise Lee
Please share a memory of Marion to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marion Louise (Dorey) Lee, 86, of Berwick, formerly of Morden, passed away on August 13, 2018 with her daughters and grandson beside her.
Marion was pre-deceased by husband Harold, of 49 years, in 2004; her parents Clyde and Ruby (Freeman) Dorey; brothers Harold, Lawrence, Carl, and Kenneth.
She is survived by her two daughters, Karen (Paul) Hudson of Fergus, ON, and Donna (Dominic) Carino of Ottawa, ON. Grandchildren: Jonathan Hudson (Mary Beth Lascurain), British Columbia; Alexander (Marianna), Germany; Elizabeth (Adam) Haston, Illinois; Selina Carino (Alain Kusters), Sarsfield, ON; Andrew (Kelly Donaldson), Orleans, ON; Leandra Carino, Ottawa; Claudia Carino, Ottawa. Great-grandchildren: Isobel, John, Richard Hudson; Oliver Haston; Marcus Carino. She is also survived by twin sister, Marjorie Keddy, Morden, NS.
Marion adored her grandchildren and, in addition to knitting many miles of yarn for them all, travelled thousands of miles over the years visiting them all. She once said that her only expensive habit was buying plane tickets. She went to California, Virginia and Colorado twice, and to Kentucky three times. For graduations, she went to Florida twice, Kentucky once, and also to Alabama for a wedding. There were, also, many trips to Ontario. In earlier years, Marion and Harold went to Winnipeg and Cranwell, England.
She was an active and committed community volunteer. She poured her time into the Morden Community Hall and the churches of Christ Church Anglican in Morden, and St. Mary's Anglican in Auburn. She also volunteered at St. Mary's Elementary School, and Grand View Manor Nursing Home where she had worked for eighteen years and later lived as a resident.
In 2015, Marion and her twin sister Marjorie Keddy were named Volunteers of the Year by the province of Nova Scotia at a wonderful ceremony in Halifax.
A visitation will take place on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm in Berwick Funeral Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 3:00 pm in St. Mary's Anglican Church, 20 Morden Road, Auburn.
