Bernard Harold Mason, 79 of Wolfville passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 30, 2006 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in England, he was a son of the late Harold and Doris (While) Mason.

Bernard was a research scientist for Shell in England before immigrating to Canada in early 1951. Since then, he had held positions both in the Municipal Government and at Acadia University.  After retiring, Bernard and his wife, Eleanor ran a Bed & Breakfast for several years.  He also published three book.  Bernard was an active member of several volunteer organizations, including Scouting and Rotary.

Bernard is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eleanot (Lockhart) Mason; daughter Daphne (Michael) Trenaman; son David (Sharon Rose); grandsons Chris, Jason and Thomas in Canada; sister Valerie and brother Victor in England.

He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Doris (While) Mason, both of whom lived in the United Kingdom.

Cremation has taken place. No visitation by request.  The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2007, at 2:00 pm in St. John's Church, Port Williams, with Rev. David Garrett and Canon Sid Davies officiating.  There will be a reception directed by St. Michael's Guild in the parish hall following the service.  Donations in Bernard's memory may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses or St. Michael's and All Angels Anglican Church, Canning.  Arrangements are under the care and direction of Serenity Funeral Home & Crematorium, P.O. Box 239, Port Williams, NS B0P 1T0.
