Obituary of Allison George Merritt

Merritt, Allison George  went to be with his Lord and Saviour on September 8th, 2018 at the age of 95.  Born in Mink Cove, Digby County, NS. He was the son of the late George and Flora (Crowell) Merritt. 

Allison was a fisherman in his younger years and went on to be a carpenter until he retired.  A jack of all trades; if it was broken he could fix it. 

He was a great guitar player and a composer of many songs. Over the years he was given several awards for his volunteer and Hospice work.  Most of all, he was a friend to everyone and had a huge heart.

He is survived by his wife Etta; Children:  Sharon (Fred) Ross, Charles (Elaine) Merritt, Andrew Merritt, Cindy Johnston. Grandchildren:  Lori (Perry) Weir, Jennifer (Chris) Douglas, Jeremy (Amy) Ross, Katie Johnston. Great Grandchildren: Zachary and Logan Weir, Emma and Aidan Douglas, Abbie Ross, Stepdaughters: Darla Thompson and Tressa Fowler and their families.

He was predeceased by his first wife Thelma of 59 years; brothers Kenneth, Arlington and Bradford; sister Marguerite.

A visitation will take place on Thursday September 13, 2018 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm in the Digby County Funeral Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday September 14, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Rossway Baptist Church with Pastor Andrew Maves and Pastor Linda DeMone officiating. Family Flowers only.
