Dear Jeff's daughters and families: This is such a shock to see Jeff's obituary in the paper this morning. As everybody will tell you, your Dad was bigger than life and I don't mean by his size either. Nobody could help but like Jeff immediately when they met him and if anybody needed a helping hand, Jeff was your "go to man" for the job. Way back in the old days, when we were all kids, your Great Aunt Jean and Uncle Earl (Young) bought a little piece of land in Grand Pre and built a cottage so they could get out of the City for the weekend. I swear, we kids waited all week to see that green, Town & Country station wagon turn the corner on Friday nite cause that meant we'd all be down there Saturday nite for a BBQ. Back then a BBQ was a big deal because until Earl built one there we had never had BBQ hotdogs and hamburgers. What fun we had waiting for Earl to get that BBQ going and put the hotdogs on. Naturally, your grandparents, Wilbert & Ethel were there and of course our pal Jeff. As we all know, your Dad loved to eat. Don't know what he loved more; his dump trucks or food, but I know he loved hotdogs. Jeff could eat more hotdogs than any of the rest of us could and with a little urging from his cousin, Greg, he always managed to still be eating after the rest of us were stuffed. For some strange reason, Greg always thought Jeff needed to eat at least 10-12 hotdogs if not more and trust me there were never any left over hotdogs. That's how we spent our long, hot Saturday nights and we thought we were having the time of life on Earl & Jean's front lawn. Then we all grew up and went our separate ways but no matter were you'd meet up with Jeff he always had that big smile of his and if you asked him what he was up to you always got the same answer - not much! He was way too young to leave this earthly world but I guess somebody figured they needed a "go to man". Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal and I'm sure you girls have lots of memories. My sincerest condolences to you all.

So sorry to hear of Jeff's passing, our thoughts and prayers are with his family as they grieve his loss. Jeff always had a welcoming smile and a kind word and those who knew him will never forget him. I remember him sitting across from me in grade five when the recess pass-time was playing marbles in the school yard, he always had a pocket full of marbles. I asked him one morning before recess how many marbles he had bought with him. he said "Twenty-seven." when we returned to class after a recess playing marbles (not with each other) I asked him if he'd lost any and he said proudly "nope, still got as many as I brought." I asked if he wanted to play 'chip chip'( a game where you put marbles in your hand and shook them then asked how many were in your hands) he said sure, so he held his marbles in his hands and shook them. I asked Jeff, "Do you have all your marbles in your hands because they didn't make any noise. He nodded his head so I guessed ... twenty-seven his smile faded from his face and he reached across the isle to give me my winnings. I smiled and said keep them Jeff we never said keepsies. I will never forget the way his face lit up when he smiled and put his marbles back in his pocket. During Noon hour we played marbles together, he won and I lost all my marbles to him but Jeff just smiled and put a handfull of marbles in my hand and said "You didn't take mine so I'm not taking yours." He had a big heart and was fair and kind man he will be missed. God Speed Jeff.
