Obituary of Merna Viola Adamson

The family of Merna Viola Adamson wish to announce her passing on January 18,2019, at Shannex Orchard Court, Kentville, NS. Born in Wentworth Valley on December 10, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Viola (Adshade) Bardon and the late Jack Bardon.

She met her husband, Ray, in Truro. They married in Ontario but returned to Dartmouth to raise their family. Ray passed away in 1973 and Merna became a widow at the age of 39. She returned to work for Suttles and Seawinds. Mom loved to garden and spend time at her cottage overlooking the Northumberland Strait, where she loved watching the seals, walking on the beach, and gathering shells, and driftwood.

Surviving are her son, John, Prince Edward Island, daughter Shelley Brooker (Mike,) Wolfville, grandchildren, Ashley Brooker, Wolfville and Steven Brooker, Ottawa; brother, Gary Bardon (Vicki), Mahone Bay, several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents Jack and Viola, and her husband Ray, sister, Alma Houston, brothers Clair, Jack, and Dale.

We would like to thank the staff of Hilltop Haven, Coldbrook, N.S., and Shannex Orchard Court, Kentville for their care and compassion.

Cremation has occurred. Memorial service will take place Friday January 25,2019 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 216 School Street, Dartmouth, Rev Dr. P.A. McDonald officiating. As per her wishes her ashes will be buried with her late husband in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
