Obituary of Mabel Cecilia Highfield

Mabel Highfield, age 83 of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully in Dartmouth General Hospital on January 21, 2019. Mabel was born on May 7, 1935 on Fairbanks Street, North End Dartmouth. Mabel was the youngest daughter of the late Joseph and Kathleen Neary.

She was formerly employed with Dartmouth General Hospital as a Dietary Supervisor.

Mabel is survived by her husband of 38 years, Clarence "Kelly" Highfield of Dartmouth, and her children from a previous marriage, Jerry Jackson, Heather Latimer, David Jackson, Stephen Jackson, Darlene Metzler, Charlene Chiddenton, and Robert Jackson; stepdaughter, Tammera Chrismas and stepson, Steven Highfield, also 14 grandchildren, five step grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren.

Mabel was predeceased by her siblings, Jean, Isabell, Margaret, Arthur, Elizabeth, Doris, Clyde, Gerald "Jed", Grace, Donald, Pearl, Joyce and Gladys.

The family wish to express their appreciation to all the nursing staff on 4 East, Dartmouth General Hospital for their professionalism and caring.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place Sunday, January 27th from 6-8 p.m. in Woodlawn United Church, 54 Woodlawn Rd., Dartmouth. The Celebration of Life Service will be held in Woodlawn United Church, Monday, January 28th at 11 a.m. followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment to follow the reception in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville for immediate family only. No Lillie flowers please. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
