Obituary of Josephine "Jo" Beatrice Dondale

Josephine “Jo” Beatrice Dondale, 93 of Digby  passed away peacefully on March 15, 2019.  Born November 14, 1925 in Annapolis Royal.  She was the daughter of the late Edward Charles and Sarah Elizabeth (Dakin) Webber.

She attended school and Business College in Digby and during World War II.  She was employed by the Wartime Prices and Trade Board at the local Ration Board in Digby.  During her lifetime, she was an active member of the Canadian Red Cross. Jo was also a member and President of the Digby Hospital Auxiliary, Annapolis Royal Hospital Auxiliary, the Apple Blossom Club of Annapolis Royal.  She was an adherent of the Digby Baptist Church.

Her favorite hobbies included golf, boating, ski-doing, swimming and dance.

She is survived by sons Gregory, Morden, Michael (Barb), North Range; Carol Dondale, Digby; grandsons Marc (Kim), Torbrook; Matthew (Tanya), Masstown; Jeffrey (Rachel), North Range; great-grandchildren Shawn Geauvreau, Calgary; Emma-Leigh and Adrian Dondale, Torbrook; Taylor Darai, Truro; Haylee Grace Goodwin, North Range; Lamert Parker Joseph Dondale, North Range; nieces Minnie MacDonald, Glace Bay, Margo Renner, Digby; Marcia (Dwight) Hubley, Ottawa, nephews Wayne (Tayna) Webber, Halifax; and Edward Levick, Lower Sackville.

Besides her parents, Jo was predeceased by her loving husband Phil; sisters Ada Morrison, Glace Bay; Doris Whitzman, Halifax; Betty Levick, Halifax; brother Hyman Webber, Digby; and great-granddaughter Patricia Lynn Dondale in infancy.

A Celebration of Jo’s Life will be held on Monday, March 25, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the Digby Baptist Church Hall. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 15, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the Digby County Funeral Chapel to which all are welcome. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Activity Department, care of the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Digby County Funeral Chapel, 367 Highway #303, Digby, B0V 1A0 (902-245-2444).
