Obituary of Andrew Allison Merritt

Andrew “Andy” Allison Merritt, 60 of Sandy Cove  passed away April 14, 2019 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital with his family by his side.  Born in Rossway at his Aunt Reta’s house on September 4, 1958; he was the son of the late Allison and Thelma (Theriault) Merritt of Mink Cove, Digby County.

Andy was a carpenter by trade, but went on to be a lobster fisherman for 32 years; first with Brian Merritt then with Lee Wentzell. His greatest passion lay with his antique Harley Davidsons, his family and friends.  Andy was always willing to give a helping hand when needed.  He was so proud of his nieces and nephews and their many accomplishments and always wanting to advise them on their investments.

He is survived by his brother Charles (Elaine); sisters Sharon (Fred) Ross and Cindy Johnston; and his nieces and nephews.

Andrew will be greatly missed by everyone but may the Legend ride on.

A visitation will take place on April 19, 2019 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm and a Funeral Service will be held on April 20, 2019 at 1:00 pm, both will be held in the Digby County Funeral Chapel.  Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
