Doug is survived by his two sons: Teddy (Karen) of Newport, Gary (Patty) of White Rock, step-daughter Wanda Wozniak of Ontario, son-in-law Ralph Kay of Canning and sisters June Sharpe of Avonport and Gloria Schofield of White Rock along with his 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his loving wife Merna, his parents Roy and Florence Croft, daughter Paulette Kay, sons Brian and Garth, his brothers Purdy and Maynard, sisters Marguerite Benedict, Virginia Hughes, along with three brothers-in-law; Wilfred Hughes, Gordon Schofield and Glen Sharpe.

Doug worked logging in South Rawdon with his beloved horses, Dan and Jerry in to his mid 30’s and then went on to work as a Heavy Equipment Operator until his retirement, Doug worked on the 101 in its first phase.

Doug loved the years that he and Merna would travel to Ontario to visit and spend the Christmas holidays with his step-daughter Wanda. After his retirement Doug loved visiting with his niece, JoAnn McInnis and nephew, Francis Millett of South Rawdon where he loved to talk about the good old days of deer hunting and fishing. Francis always made sure Doug went home with a deer steak!

Doug's favorite country artist was George Jones and whenever he visited his son, Ted, his favorite George song, “HE STOPPED LOVING HER TODAY” got put on the record player.

“Our family would like to thank the VON who took care of Doug so he could stay in his home as long as he possible. Words can not express our gratitude!”

“Even though Doug was at Evergreen Home for Special Care for a short time. The kindness, care and love they showed to Doug and our family was truly appreciated. Thank you for all you did for Doug and us.”
