Obituary of Elizabeth "Alice" Meerman

Elizabeth “Alice” Meerman, 80 of Wolfville, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2019 in Wolfville.  She was born in Vlaardingen, The Netherlands in 1938 and immigrated to Canada in 1957.

Many people will remember Alice from the years that she worked at L. E. Shaw School, KCA and the Evangeline Middle School in New Minas.  She was also recognized for her Humanitarian work in Cuba along with her husband Cornelis “Keith”.

She is survived by her sister Krijna and brother Herman; her presence will also be missed by her five sons Lawrence (Sheila), Bill (Marybeth), Repko (Cheryl), Stephen (Laurel) and Arthur; and many grandchildren.

Mom and Dad’s ashes will be spread at Pier 21, as they were proud Canadians and this is where they were first welcomed. 

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the Wolfville Baptist Church, 487 Main Street, Wolfville, with reception to follow. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
