Jo-Ann Peters

Obituary of Jo-Ann Lynn Peters

Please share a memory of Jo-Ann to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

At the young age of 65, Jo-Ann peacefully slipped away after a short battle with pancreatic cancer on the night of August 6th on 8.4 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. She was surrounded by family and love. Jo-Ann was born in Chilliwack, B.C., to the late Florence "Tommy" Roberts (Laidlaw) and Kenneth Roberts.

She lived a short while in British Columbia as well as Petawawa, Ont. and Halifax before settling in Harrietsfield, more than 45 years ago. She worked many jobs including a catalogue order picker for Sears, child care provider and her most favorite job as an Assistant Manager of Harvey's in Dalhousie University. Those were her best years she said. Jo-Ann had a great sense of humor and was always worried about everyone else. She loved to read, watch Days of Our Lives and shop on the Home Shopping Channel! She loved road trips especially to the Valley for fruits and veggies and always had to find a "chip truck" for some yummy fish and chips. She was a dog lover and adored her dog Copper, who passed away in 2016.

She is survived by her children, Gary Peters of Harrietsfield and Kimberly Peters (Peter McInnis), of Timberlea; brothers, Kenneth Roberts (Darlene), of Eastern Passage and Donald Roberts (Linda), of Clayton Park; nieces, Erin and Caitlin; nephews, Kyle and Evan, as well as one great niece and two great nephews.

Family was everything to our mom. She was loving, caring, funny, strict (when needed) and hung on through many difficult medical and health issues. She was a fighter, and now her fight is over and ours begins in a life without her. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses who treated her over the past four months on 8.4.

She was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Florence Roberts and many aunts and uncles.

Cremation has taken place. Burial will be at a future date for family. A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, August 16th, in the Royal Canadian Legion in Spryfield, Sussex Street, from 5-9 p.m. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Craig's Cause Pancreatic Cancer Society.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
