Obituary of Bradford Eric Wood

Please share a memory of Bradford to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Bradford (Brad) Eric Wood (68), on September 5, 2019 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre.  Born in Windsor, Ont., Brad moved to Halifax at an early age where he was raised by his parents with his many siblings.  Upon leaving school, he joined the Canadian Forces.

In 1973, Brad began a career with Canadian National Railway (CN). In the late 1980's and early 1990's he served as Local Chairman for the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers (BLE) Division 247 in Halifax, and rose to the position of General Chairman for the BLE for CN Lines East, serving until December 2000.

Brad was fortunate to have shared much of his life with his wife Susan (Dauphinee) Wood, who passed suddenly in March 2006. Married for 33 years, their love for each other was strong and together they raised their beloved daughter Michelle. They enjoyed family adventures, golf, travelling and spending time with their many family and friends. Always ready to host a party, you always felt at home with them.

Brad was predeceased by his mother, Alice Wood (MacDonald); father, John Wood; stepmother, Olive Wood; and brother, Richard Neil Wood.

He is survived by his daughter, Michelle; brothers, John, Wayne, Bruce, Dougall (Doug); and sisters, Jacqueline (Jackie) Dunphy and Cheryl Robinson.

Many thanks to his partner Lila Abraham for her support during his final years. We would like to thank the many family, friends and health care professionals who gave what they could to support Brad and had the courage to step back when needed.

Family and friends are welcome to drop in to celebrate Brad's life Saturday, September 14th from 1-5 p.m. at 6488 Chester Ave., Halifax. Private interment will take place.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the local addictions and mental health program of your choice.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
