Dear Rick,Selina & Jamie and family, We were so sorry to hear of Irene’s passing. We were friends and over the years we had lots of laughs together. As like others have said she had an infectious laugh. She truly enjoyed life and her family meant everything to her. She was warm, friendly and kind hearted and always welcomed you into her home. We always enjoyed Rick and Irene’s friendship. Rest In Peace dear friend. I am sure there will be a special place in heaven for you.

Richard and Family, I was saddened to read of Irene's passing. I know it was a difficult time, having gone through the same with my Mom. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I have fond memories of my weekends down in Upper Kingsburg and our trips to Hirtle's Beach, across the pond - of course that was when we were much younger and single. I remember Albert, Beulah and Jean and the hospitality they showed when I visited them. Precious memories for sure. The tribute is a beautiful send off for Irene and a very unique way to express certain feelings. Please know that I WILL have a cup of tea and a sweet and remember the good times with my dear friend (an Maid of Honour at our wedding) while doing that very thing, Rest in Peace now, Irene and God Bless you all.

Floyd and I send our sincerest sympathy to Irene's family and friends.Selena,you captured Irene's life in the beautifully written piece that honoured her life on earth.I am sure there will be fragrant gardens in Heaven because of her.Everyone will cherish the memories of someone who was always so welcoming .Take care of each other throughout this difficult time.We enjoyed every second that we spent in her presence. Dear Richard, Selena and Jamie, I was saddened to read of Irene’s death in the newspaper today. The tribute to Irene was moving, informative and told me things I did not know. Richard, I imagine that you will remember when Bill, Joel and I lived in John G.’s house in 1976-7, but Selena and Jamie, you will likely have no memory of the times when Irene and I walked along the road and you kids played together (I have posted a couple of photos I found). Selena, you and Joel were the same age. I have a special memory when we sledded on the hill and had such fun. It certainly made a difference for me to have Irene as company and that Joel had playmates. Albert and Beulah were wonderful neighbours and I have very fond memories of spending time with them in their kitchen. I, too, remember your parents, Richard – Ernie and Ava, our neigbours on the other side of John’s house. Ava was a strong, vigorous woman – I can still see her mowing the lawn. I had heard at one time that Irene had declined in health, but I am glad to hear that there were good times at your Wentworth cabin and travels across the continent. That all happened since our times together. A lot of water under the bridge. So, I wish to send my condolence to you for your loss. Thinking of Irene now, over 40 years later, I have fond memories of our year living in Upper Kingsburg among good neighbours. With my sympathies, Sharon MacDonald

I remember my Aunt Irene as one of the sweetest women I've ever known. We would visit Canada every summer and always spend many hours, a pack of children, roving through the neighborhood. It's true that she was always gardening. It's also true that those flowers were gorgeous. I almost thought I had romanticized their beauty in my memories, but after reading all these amazing stories I know it to be a fact. I loved my Aunt Irene. I will miss her. I send my love to you Selena. To Kevin, Olivia, Declan, uncle Richie and to Jamie and his family. I love you all very much!

I will always remember Irene watching the birds out the window, fresh flowers from her garden on the table and her cute laugh. When she laughed, I laughed. Irene was a great wife, mother and grand-mother. Irene was loved by all. Irene will be missed by all.
