Sheila and I have such fond affections for your father and mother and "little Meg and Paul" since we meet nearly 50 years ago. We always enjoyed the many visits and overnights after we left Kentville and when your parents returned to the farm. Don and I reminisced about old acquaintances, earlier days in our accounting training, and later his most recent project on the farm. He always did thinks well and with pride after careful thought. We will miss you parents loving friendship and will forever cherish the wonderful memories.

Dear Meg and Paul
You know I have already written an email and I plan to be with you on November 22.
I did say some of the following. First that I was shocked and saddened and send my condolences to you both. I can only begin to imagine how difficult it must have been for you both over these past months. And it was difficult for Nancy too, a special friend who I know Don felt blessed to know. All this learned when talking on the phone.
Now that both Don and Lea have passed I am feeling a large hole in my being, because of your Dad's role in my life. You know your parents came to Nova Scotia and Don and I worked together for some time. Your parents were always friends and I was always welcomed in your home.
When I moved away for 20 years distance and circumstance changed our relationship. Somehow, I assumed Don and I would "talk over the fence" for years as we grew older. Don and I learned a lot together, but his friendship, honesty and professionalism made him stand out as one of the finest persons I ever worked with. He was a class act!!. He and Lea were my friends.
I know you will l miss him greatly. His quiet strength was something you will always remember. I can see his "understanding smile" (knowing grin) now as I write. But you will remember the many wonderful times in your family which will make it easier at this time. He loved you both and was very proud of your accomplishments.
Again I repeat my condolences.
Sincerely,
Tom

Helen and I are very sorry for your Dad's passing, Meg and Paul. I always called him "Uncle Don", and enjoyed his sense of humour - and his woodworking shop! - very much. - Michael (for Helen)
