It is with deep sadness that the family of Myrtle Florence Lohnes, age 91, of Bridgewater, NS, announce her passing on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at the South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater, NS. She was born in Welsford, NS on December 20, 1928 to the late William & Vivian Smith.

Myrtle was a homemaker as she raised her six children. She was a proud member of the New Germany Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and had great faith in her creator and loved to share her faith with everyone she met.

For many years she enjoyed drives around the South Shore and Annapolis Valley with her husband, and later her daughter Barbara. Her family was a very important part of her life. She was an avid shopper and many knew her for her sense of fashion, even creating her own clothes and her beautiful stylish hats.

She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years Everdeen “Buster” Lohnes; parents William & Vivian Smith; infant daughter Alberta Rose Lohnes; brothers Arthur and Billy Smith; sisters Shirley and Mary Smith; and great granddaughter Brandy Lohnes.

She is survived by her children Barbara (David) Lohnes of Vogler’s Cove, NS; Philip (Rita) Lohnes of New Germany, NS; Charles (Wanda) Lohnes of Oakhill, NS; Vivian (Leonard) Lohnes-Thibeault of East Dalhousie, NS; and Trudy (Paul) Lockhart of Windsor, NS; grandchildren Charmaine and Jodie Dixon of Ottawa, ON; Dave Deveau of Dartmouth, NS; Matthew (Nadine) Lohnes of Scarsdale, NS; Aaron (Courtney) Lohnes of Northfeild, NS; Nicholas Lohnes of Grand Valley, ON; Shanice (Jamin) Stewart of Bridgewater, NS; Jackie Chambers of Windsor, NS; great-grandchildren Emily, Jordan, Cody, Chase, Jaden and Jasmine; she is also survived by her sisters Norma (Brady) Dorey or Cookville; Betty Crawford of Bridgewater, NS; brother Ronnie (Myrna) Smith of Beaverbank, NS; nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and a graveside burial will take place at a later date in Vogler’s Cove.  Memorial donations may be made to the jw.org. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home New Ross Funeral Chapel, 4935 Hwy #12, New Ross, B0J 2M0 (902-689-2961).
