Dear Ann and Families:
I was very set back o hear of Mike's death.
He was a real god person.
Sorry that I could not get to the Valley in time for his funeral.
Worked for and mostly with Mike in the kitchens at Camp Aldershot.
He always asked my sister (who passed away over a year ago) and my brother in law how I was doing.
It is very painful your loss.
Mike may the BIG GUY's light show on YOU brightly my friend.

To the Ricketts Family,
I understand your sorrow and offer my deepest condolences.
The motto of the West Novas is "Always Faithful" and this was particularly true of Mike. He joined the West Novas as a Koeran veteran and contributed greatly to the training. That was before my time. I remember Mike as the Chief Cook operating kitchens in Camp and the in the field, whether it was in tents or in the mobile "flying kitchen". He was very much at home providing this essential service to his fellow soldier with his ever present smile.
His staff was sometimes people who had been in some kind of trouble, and Mike was a fine mentor for them, teaching lessons about cooking and life. They will never forget him.
I remember my shock last week, hearing of his unexpected passing. I have lost a true friend of many years. Rest in Peace, Mike.

Our condolence to Mikes family. We have known Mike for awhile, our first time meeting Mike was at the Kentville Fire Dept. banquet. Always enjoyed talking to him and looked forward to the next banquet to set and chat. I enjoy Mike coming into Home Hardware to buy things for his projects. When I ask him what project are you working on today he would always say just a project. RIP Mike you will be missed by all who knew you.

To all of Mike’s family. Mike and I continued our friendship beyond his skating days. It was a pleasure to know such a pleasant, caring, and talented person. He helped me with several carpentry projects I was not capable of doing myself, and did a great job. Of course, he showed me the wonderful carousel horses. Works of art, for sure. I will certainly miss him—the smiling face, with the pure white beard. Your grief is shared by many.

Mike was an extra special person. Generous to others, courageous and kind. I loved to scan the veterans on parade each Remembrance Day to see his face and fluffy white beard. I’m going to miss that feeling of: “There’s Mike and all is well”. So sorry for this great loss to family, friends and community. I’m sure you know how much the community at large appreciated your Dad.

Heather, Matthew, Nathan, family and friends: So sad to hear about your loved one and our friend Mike's passing. He was such a special person to us - more like family than just friend. We have so many fond memories when he came to Labrador to visit like salmon fishing on the Forteau River, helping out on whenever I was involved with building something or other, joining in our sing alongs, or just dropping in for a chat and a cup of tea. Mike was a treasure and it was a joy to be around him. We will certainly miss him but never forget the kindness, fun, and laughter we shared.
Rest in peace Mike and God's peace be with you. Our condolences to all of you.
