Obituary of Patricia Elizabeth Matheson

Patricia “Pat” Elizabeth Matheson, age 72 of Wolfville. It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and sister at the Valley Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family on February 15, 2020.

Pat was born August 17, 1947 in Halifax, where she grew up and raised her family. She always said she left a piece of her heart there and had many fond memories of “The Passage”.

Her grandchildren and great grandchildren along with her very special nieces and nephews warmed her heart and always made her smile. She loved spending time with them and then sharing stories about their lives to those around her. Her and Tom have left such a legacy behind to carry their love and passion forward.

Pats memory and legacy will live on in her children and grandchildren, because loved her family fiercely with a strong commitment and dedication to them. Her smile and laugher will ring in our ears for many years to come and her presence here with us, will be greatly missed.

Rest easy Mom and Nan. We love you.

Pat is survived by her children Susan Matheson Wolfville; Deanna Matheson, Port Williams; Debra Matheson, Centreville; Robert “Bobby” (Jen) Matheson, Baxters Harbour; grandchildren Mike, Melissa, Brandon, Kaitlyn “Katie”, Leah, Nick, Trissa “Trissy”, Cameron, Andre, Jaxon, Hayden; great-grandchildren Dawson, Noah and Elliott; sister Sharon (Walter); brother Bob (Theresa); half-brother Mike (Barb); half-sister Janet; and several nieces and nephews.

Pat was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Tom Matheson; parent Harold and Marion (Sinderly) Rodgers; step-father Peter Sinderly; and her special aunt Edna Sawlor.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the care she received from the doctors and nurses at Valley Regional Hospital and special thanks to her favorite nurse Alicia, whom she always talked about and who always put a smile on Pat’s face.

A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at 2:00 pm in Wolfville Funeral Chapel. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Open Arms in Kentville.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Wolfville Funeral Chapel, 568 Main Street, Wolfville, B4P 1E5 (902-542-4656).
