Obituary of Claire Marie Lise Juneau

Please share a memory of Claire to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On the 10th of April 2020, an angel was called back to Heaven. Claire Marie Lize Juneau (née Castonguay) passed away in her home in Greenwood, Nova Scotia.

“Mom was Love. She loved to love, and she loved to laugh. Her lifelong wonder and love of art, nature, music, architecture, her family and her friends has been an inspiration to us.”

Claire was born on 12 August 1929, in St Thomas de Caxton, Quebec; she was one of 15 children. Like some of her siblings, she turned to art early in life and produced many beautiful paintings and other works of art. As a military wife, she traveled to Europe and marveled at the natural and architectural beauty of Germany, France, Italy, Denmark, Holland, and other countries. She and husband Mike found their heaven in Nova Scotia and retired here soon after their last posting in 1977. They were Snowbirds for 15 years, escaping to Florida to avoid the cold winters, where they made many new friends.

As a young woman, Mom loved looking after her younger nieces and nephews.

Claire is survived by her children Rob, Luce-Anne, and Marc; her sisters Germaine and Simone; her brother Joseph; her sisters-in-law Lucette and Aline Juneau; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and grandsons, as well as many dear friends.

“No one, who knew her smile or generosity of spirit, could forget her. It is an abiding honour to have been her son, her daughter, her friend, her family.”

Cremation has taken place. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.   Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
