Obituary of Susan Amanda Joyce Marshall

Please share a memory of Susan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

SUSAN AMANDA JOYCE MARSHALL, 46 of Seabrook, Digby Co.

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Susan, on May 17, 2020. After a long and courageous struggle, Susan succumbed to a quiet, insidious disease. In the end, despite her courage and our best efforts to help her, her pain became overwhelming. We feel frustrated that our love could not do more to help soothe her inner chaos, but we take comfort knowing she’s at peace. She was a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Born in Digby on February 21, 1974, she was the youngest daughter of Donna (Adams) and the late Charles “Bev” Pyne.

Susan always valued and found joy in the simple things in life. She was a lover of nature, she enjoyed being outdoors, caring for her gardens and her many animal friends. She had a passion for creating, with the ability to make something special out of nothing, from a delicious home cooked meal to a project around the house. Susan took great pride in everything that she and Brandon had built together. She was fun-loving and was always up for a good time. She also had a great love for her family, especially for Brandon, their son, Ryan, and her mother, Donna. She will be missed deeply and remembered fondly, her dimpled smile, her quick wit and her warm heart.

Besides her mother, she is survived by her devoted husband and best friend, Brandon; beloved son, Ryan (Katie MacLean), Smiths Cove; sisters, Janice (Steven) Theriault, Digby; Karen Pyne (Rick Millner), West Springhill; brother, Craig Pyne (Ann Titus), Centreville; nieces, Emily, Miranda and Megan; nephews, Tyler, Andrew and Charlie. She is also survived by several great nieces and nephews and her husband’s family.

Besides her father, Susan was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Vernon and Constance (Potter) Adams and paternal grandparents, Charles and Viola (Theriault) Pyne.

“We take great comfort in knowing that because of Susan’s faith, she had a firm belief in the resurrection and the hope of living forever on a paradise earth.”

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions, a celebration of Susan’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, “please be kind to one another. Share your struggles, fears and joys, be present and patient in each other’s journeys. And when love seems to fail...because sometimes love is not enough…then love more, pray more, talk more, learn more, live more.”

When You Wake Up Without Me

When you wake up without me,

There will be tears in your eyes, no doubt.

I’m sorry I didn’t say goodbye,

Or even leave a note.

When you wake up without me,

Please feel rest assured,

That the pain I suffered with tormenting thoughts,

I am now forever cured.

When you wake up without me,

Say my name with a smile.

I had so many happy times,

The list would go for a mile.

When you wake up without me,

Please lay no blame on you.

I truly needed help,

More than anyone really knew.

When you wake up without me,

Remember I loved you so.

And for this very reason,

It was difficult to go.

When you wake up without me,

I’m always near at heart.

The memories deep inside,

Will never, ever part.

When you wake up without me,

Know that I’m now at rest.

I loved you all so dearly,

You all did your best.

When you wake up without me,

Remember it’s only for awhile.

Because my hope is that, once again,

I will see your smile.

With immense love and sadness, written by Karen Pyne
