Marilyn Isles

Obituary of Marilyn Donna Isles

Please share a memory of Marilyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Marilyn Donna Isles, age 72, of Digby, passed away on July 18, 2020 at Yarmouth Regional hospital.

She worked in Halifax at Bell and Grant Insurance in the 1970’s, then started a job at the Milford House and finished her working career at The Pines Hotel.

Marilyn was quiet by nature, but I often caught her singing along to the Golden Oldies! She loved pets but never had any of her own. She never forgot our pets during the holidays and they received many treats from their Auntie Marilyn. She always supported The Society for The Friends of Ferals in Digby when they had their table of pet goodies at the Evangeline Mall. She so loved jewelry, fashion, and getting her hair styled each week. Thank you to Wendy Thompson-Bremner for being her hairdresser for many years.

Marilyn absolutely loved all the holidays, especially Christmas. She loved to decorate and put up lights! She enjoyed buying gifts for family, friends and pets. I think she received much joy from the giving of these gifts.  She had a childlike wonder of all things related to Christmas.

She is survived by her sisters Lorene Isles-Prescesky and Ardith Isles; brother Bruce Isles (Natalie); nephews Jeremy Theriault, Daniel Isles, Joel Wade and Jonathan Wade; nieces Michelle Isles and Mallori Theriault.

She was predeceased by her loving parents, Clarence and Marjorie Janet Isles of Bear River, NS and her very dear friend, Reets.

Thank you the EMTs, the nursing staff and doctors at Digby Hospital. Special thank you to Dr. Blair MacDonald and nursing staff at Yarmouth Regional Hospital for their care in the final hours of her life.  Many thanks to Bob Wade of Digby, for his taxi service for Marilyn over all these years. She so appreciated your kindness.

By her request, there will be no memorial service. She requested that donations in her memory, may be made to The Society for The Friends of Ferals, Digby General Hospital or Yarmouth Regional Hospital.   Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Digby County Funeral Chapel, 367 Highway #303, Digby, B0V 1A0 (902-245-2444).
