Obituary of Margaret Vesta Weatherbee

Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Margaret Vesta (Hutt) Weatherbee, 77 of Wolfville, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, July 29, 2020 in the Valley Regional Hospital.  Born in Avonport, she was a daughter of the late Harris and Laura (MacDonald) Hutt.

Margaret loved to knit, bake bread, make pies and play canasta. She liked to play bingo, but hated to lose. She loved shopping with her sister Donna and attending the annual Munroe/Hutt Christmas celebration where food, games and laughter abounded. She lived in her apartment for over 30 years and loved getting to know the new students and tenants that moved in each year.

Margaret enjoyed spending time with people, but especially the time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she treasured.

She is survived by her daughter Carol (Rob) Warner; sons Peter Weatherbee and Bill (Patricia Benjamin) Weatherbee; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister Donna (Ronald) Weatherbee.

Besides her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Harold “Sonny” Murray Weatherbee; brother Lawson Hutt; and sister Mary Ann Munroe.

“We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff in the surgical unit of the VRH for becoming like a second family to our mom, as well as to the kitchen staff who always sent a special treat to brighten her day.  A special thank you to Dr. Mike Mulherin for his compassion and care.  We would also like to thank the VON Homecare and Nurses who have tended to mom over the years and made it possible for her to stay at home.”

There will be no funeral at Margaret’s request.  Memorial donations may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital and/or to the VON.   Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
