I have to echo Kathleen's and Kevin's sentiments. I've been back in N.S. for 24 years and if it wasn't for spending a lot of time with our dad, Cecil, I wouldn't have gotten to see any of Dad's brothers and their families. Uncle George and Aunt Mary would often visit Dad so I did have the pleasure of seeing them again, and Uncle Jim too. As for the kids, well, they all know that the only time we got to see each other was at Mom's, Tim's, or Dad's funerals. Brief conversations due to the occasions, but glad to have had them regardless. I spoke with Allan once, maybe twice, in those years and he was happy and friendly, as if the 40 or 50 years since we had last talked hadn't even existed. I will miss him because of that. Keeping in touch with relatives has not been a big thing with our family with our generation as it had been with the past generations so it's time we did that because we are the 'older' generation now, Uncle George notwithstanding. I'd love to see you folks again and Uncle Jim's kids as well. I'm weary of seeing people at funerals only. Please feel free to contact me at the e-mail here. I'm retired, as are Kathleen and Kevin. Neil's still in the city but not retired, as far as I know. Know that our thoughts are with you at this time. Mike

My deepest sympathies to the family. I will always remember Allan fondly and have wonderful memories of many times spent together. A long time friend of 20 years I heard many of his stories about his adventures and the love he had for all his children. He will be missed dearly

To Uncle George and family.
I only met Allan a few times but he was intelligent, funny and quite the storyteller. I wish I knew him better but living in BC meant I only got home on vacation and the chances of meeting up were slim.
I am so sorry for your loss.

I'm deeply saddened to hear of Al's passing. We shared many great times together riding our motorcycles, camping or passing time fishing and partying at my cottage, his place, the Three G's (Glen, George and Grant's) and the Wade House back in the day. Rest in peace brother.

Sandra, I have a few more pictures. These ones were closer up and cropped. I could send you the full (and other) pictures if you like. I believe you can check my email address on this post but if not it's - therealbabadook@gmail.com
Kind regards - and once again my sincere condolences. Take solace that we shared many great times - particularly on the South Shore.

So sorry to hear of Allan's passing. I should be able to tell you stories of him as we are first cousins but I can't. Our paths barely crossed when I was young and I have so few memories of him. I am more of the loss of not meeting him, or the rest of the family, since I've moved back to Nova Scotia. People asked me, although NS was home, why I moved back after 30 years in SK. While the obvious answer was close friends and immediate family, I always said that I have many first cousins (and seconds, and once removed, and father's first cousins etc.) living in NS and I want to get to know them all. I've been back almost a year and while I can blame covid and settling into a new house; I should have been more proactive meeting my family. I would have loved to have met Allan in the last 12 months and my loss for not doing so.

To Allan's Family - Reading the obituaries is not something I often do, but something made me do this today. I'm quite sure that Allan and I attended the same elementary school. Allan was very cute with an amazing smile and eyes that sparkled. Riding bikes and skating at the rink (and for Allan, hockey) were the big things back then. I remember being sad when he and his family moved away from Melrose Avenue. Reading about Allan today made me realize that there are some people you never forget and who still make you smile -- that's you, Allan. I pray you are at peace. Debbie

Everett...agreed - especially regarding losing touch. A longtime friend gone way too soon. Check out a couple pics I posted. I have several with you/of you but hopefully won't be sharing them in a forum like this. Condolences on Mariam's passing. I posted on her site and called brother David.

So sorry to hear that Allan has passed on. I knew Allan for at least 50 years. He always had a smile on his face and was keen to have a good time. I have no doubt he will continue on in his new experience the same way he did on earth. To his family, please except my condolences at this very sad time. SWEET Dreams Allan, I will think of you often.

I am so sorry to hear of Allan's passing. I went to school with Allan and always found him to be a very likeable and friendly person. I hadn't seen Allan for quite a few years but have thought of him often over the years. I remember running into him at Alderney Landing in Dartmouth many years ago which was the last time I saw Allan. He will be missed by many. My thoughts and condolences to his family and children at this time.
