Obituary of Sheila Marie McLeod

Please share a memory of Sheila to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Sheila Marie McLeod (nee Mumford), 82 of Clementsvale, slipped gently into her wings on November 17, 2020 in the Soldier’s Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Halifax, on August 9, 1938, Sheila was the daughter of the late Ernest Mumford and Eileen Mumford-Collins.

Sheila was a devoted naval wife and is survived and deeply loved by her husband of 64 years, Robert (Bob) McLeod Sr.; and their four children Robert (Bob) McLeod Jr, Morganville; Kelly Mayotte (Myles), Clementsvale; Tracy Carey (Pat), Quispamsis, NB; and Jodi McLeod, NB. Sheila is also survived by her youngest sister Valerie Mumford, Middle Sackville; and many nieces and nephews. Sheila was an adoring grandmother to her grandchildren Adam, Kyle, Anthony, Zachary, Sarah, Robert, Brandi and five great-grandchildren.

Although we sadly mourn her, we celebrate the life she lived and the time we had with her. We will miss you and love you forever, Mom.

Besides her parents, Sheila was also predeceased by her beloved sister Jean (Mumford) Payne, brother Donald Mumford, brother-in-law Gerry Payne and sister-in-law Tracey Mumford.

Sheila lived her life full of determination, strength and love of family. She was well known for her loyalty, sense of humour and lively wit.

Sheila started her career at the Dockyards in Halifax, retiring in 1992 from her position at the Personnel Office, at former CFB Cornwallis.

The family wishes to acknowledge with sincere appreciation the many expressions of sympathy and gestures of kindness shown during this time. And we, the family, would also like to express a heartfelt Thank You to the Dr’s, RN’s, LPN’s, CCA’s and support staff at Soldier’s Memorial Hospital, Medical Unit, Transitional Care Unit and the Mayflower Unit for the excellent care provided to Mom in her time of need.

Cremation has taken place and at Sheila’s request there will be no visitation and no service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or a charity of your choice.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
