Obituary of Doris Irene Coldwell

Doris Irene Coldwell, 96 of Wolfville peacefully passed away November 21, 2020 in her home with her loving family by her side.  Born on January 23, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Edward O’Brien and Amy (Morine) O’Brien.

Doris attended school and Sunday school in Wolfville. She was a devoted member of the Wolfville Ridge Baptist Church and was baptized in 2011. She was a dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Dr C.B. Lumsden Branch 74, Wolfville, the Ladies Auxiliary; and an active member for 23-years as past President and Treasurer, as well as a member of the Wolfville Silver and Gold Seniors Club.

Doris had many hobbies, she enjoyed watching hockey, soccer and ball hockey; playing TV Bingo and doing her Friday lexicon puzzle. There were also many good memories spent at the River.

She was a devoted homemaker and lover of children.

To my Family: When you were young, I held you by the hand. As you grew older, I’ve held you close to my heart. Work each day to the fullest, no matter how heavy the burden- try hard to have a smile. And to my grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, you were all my precious jewels.

Doris is survived by children Heather Geizer, Sydney; Brian (Barb) Reid, Wolfville Ridge; Karen (Willard) Rogers, Melanson; Jerry (Cindy) Reid, Canning; Jackie Coldwell, Wolfville Ridge; William (Michelle) Coldwell, Wolfville Ridge; and honorary daughter Lana Haliburton, Wolfville; 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Doris was predeceased by her first husband Ronald A. Reid and second husband Medford W. Coldwell; two grandsons and one granddaughter; sisters Evelyn, Vivian and Florence; and brothers Arnold, Harry, Lloyd, Russell, Howard, Carl, Donald, Edward, and Harlen in infancy; and son-n-law Ralph Geizer.

A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the Willowbank Cemetery. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Wolfville Ridge Baptist Church or Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke.   Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
