Hello,
I am very sorry to hear of George's passing.
I knew him in Blomidon as kind and generous, full of life.
He painted the life size painting of my husband David Crnec, that I see in the ensemble of his earlier 1970's paintings. David had just plowed his driveway after a tremendous snowfall, and had stepped in for a cup of tea.
Life then was very isolated and we appreciated his fresh face.
My sincere condolences,
Sandra Sabourin

I am saddened to hear of George's passing. George was an exemplary artist, a friend to many, and a great contributor to the arts community of Nova Scotia and beyond. As the chair of Visual Arts Nova Scotia in the late '80s, he was largely responsible for developing the professionalism of this provincial organization. George will be missed. My condolences, Heather, to you and the family.

I wanted to express my sincere condolences, in reading about George's passing. I first met George when he arrived in Canada and was doing some paintings for Mitchell Franklin, a friend of our family. George was doing some beautiful paintings for the hotel and he could convey in a few strokes the beauty of Nova Scotia. I have many good memories of George in his early years in Canada. He was a wonderful man, with great artistic talent aligned with a kind and giving personality. George just made the world a better place for everyone who met him. I saw him sporadically over the years but lost touch in recent years. Again, he will be missed and remembered by many. Allan Purdy

Dear Heather,
Erna and I send our sincere condolences on your loss of George. He couldn't have wished for a better passing with you and Deborah at his side, as you had been throughout his journey with cancer. How fortunate you were to have him in your life with his genuine optimism, positive outlook and ever present smile. When I suffered a loss a wise person told that although death ends a life it doesn't end relationships. We hope you will treasure your relationship with George and that it will sustain you.
With love,
Sandy and Erna

Dear Heather and family,
How sad to read of George’s recent passing. We have known him since forever and have many pleasant memories of contact with him including one of his paintings. My last memory of the two of you together was strolling down the main street in Port Williams. You were a delight to see. Pancreatic cancer is a miserable disease and we know he must have suffered.
Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you at this very difficult time, and especially during the holiday season.
May God grant you courage.
Fondly, Sandi and Pete

My deepest sympathy to George’s family and friends. I knew George from the “Chez Mocha Restaurant” days in Wolfville (early 1980s). I was playing jazz piano at the restaurant with bassist, Art Boehm, and he was often at the bar, listening. He even offered to do a pencil sketch of me sitting at the grand piano in Convocation Hall at Acadia University, which I have kept in my possession all these years, and now hangs near my piano. A beautiful person who has gone on to bigger and better things. Rest in peace, George.

This is very sad news. Our condolences to Heather and family. I first met George when he was doing realism and watched his shift into his wonderful abstract work. George was a painter’s painter. Damn good, and he would take risks with his paintings and take them where no else good. I will remember his constant smile and wonderful sensibility and his way of being. We will miss his physical presence, but his wonderful spirit will remain with us.
