Obituary of Ralph Bernard Bell
It is with sadness that the family of Ralph B. “Bernie” Bell announce his passing, at the age of 89, on June 9, 2021 in the Digby General Hospital. Born in Bear River, he was the son of the late Cecil and Vera (Alcorn) Bell.
Bernie worked for Maritime Tel & Tel for 30 years before retiring to working full time in the construction and wood working business. He was a pillar in his church and community, both in town and at Haines Lake (a place that was very dear to him).
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ellen (Andrews) Bell; daughter Cindy Bell; grandchildren Jared and Tiffany; great-grandchildren Clarissa, Joey and Tucker; sister Beverly Ferguson; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bernie was predeceased by brother Cecil Bell, Jr.; sisters Byrnus Gillam and Iris Cress.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Digby Baptist Church at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Digby Baptist Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Digby County Funeral Chapel, 367 Highway #303, Digby, NS B0V 1A0 (902-245-2444).
