Obituary of Edward Harry Banks

Edward “Eddie” Harry Banks, 68 of Bear River passed away peacefully at home on June 29, 2021 surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was the son of the late Eldon and Rose Ann (Hudson) Banks and was retired from Natural Resources, Digby County office.

Eddie was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman.  He loved hunting and fishing, was a trapper and made pack baskets.  He played golf, hockey, badminton and soft ball.  Eddie was a passionate gardener and also grew Christmas trees.

The most important thing to Eddie has always been his family and the time spent with them.  He will certainly live on in the many wonderful memories that his grandchildren will always cherish.

Eddie is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cathy (VanTassel); sons Cody (Heather) and Evan (Carrie); grandchildren Ethan, Carmen, Megan, Lucus and Carley Rose; brother Dave (Shirley); Cousin Judy.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 2:00 in the Bear River Baptist Church.  Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of one’s choice.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Digby County Funeral Chapel, 367 Highway #303, Digby, N.S., B0V 1A0 (902-245-2444).
