Obituary of Gerald Maurice Amero
Please share a memory of Gerald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gerald Maurice Amero, 85 of Granville Ferry, passed away on September 7, 2021 in the Annapolis Community Health Centre. Gerald was the first son born to the late Henry and Mable (Tabner) Amero, both of Granville Ferry.
Gerald spent his career in the service holding positions of P.P.C.L.I. and Black Watch. Once the Black Watch disbanded, he carried out his services with R.C.A.S.C at CFB Cornwallis as a Commissionaire.
Moving back home to Waldeck in 1972, Gerald became a hobby farmer, where he enjoyed the teaching of farming to his children and grandchildren. He was such a loving family man who took great pride in his family. In 1988, full retirement took him and wife, Marie to Parker Mountain Road where he then enjoyed his time in solitude. He treasured the time spent in his gardens, with his cherished dogs and cats, picnic trips, long drives on the back roads, and wood-working. Gerald took life one glorious day at a time, with only one goal in mind, enjoy the outdoors and all it had to offer him and his family.
Even though Gerald is no longer with us, his memory will live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marie (Hubley) Amero; his only daughter, Cindy (Dean) Shipp of Upper Granville; sons, Kevin (Angela) Amero of Annapolis Royal and Gregory (Erlene) of Victoria, BC; grandchildren, Dorothy Amero of Victoria, BC; Wesley (Nora) Hearn of Princedale; Angenett of Fredericton, NB; Kera Amero of Alberta; and his pride and joy great-grandchildren, Shirah and Gavin Hearn of Princedale; Bryden Amero of Alberta; younger brother Clyde (Lois) of Alberta.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was predeceased by his sister Mary Hubley (Lloyd) and his nephew Christopher Hubley.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Gerald’s Life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Annapolis Royal Palliative Care Unit. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Digby County Funeral Chapel, 367 Highway #303, Digby, NS B0V 1A0 (902-245-2444).
