Obituary of Dorothy Bond

Please share a memory of Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Our beloved Mom, Nan and Nanny passed away peacefully on October 30th, 2021. Dorothy "Lillian" Bond,  84 of Kentville, was the daughter of the late Evelyn Anne and Roland Jobe Harvey.  She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Lillian graduated from the Mack Business College, and had a wonderful career with Department of Natural Resources, as a stenographer, before retiring to provide for her mother who had Alzheimer's.

Lillian believed strongly in helping her family and friends. She was a caring mother and grandmother to many of the neighbourhood kids, accepting them as her own. She was a wonderful combination of warmth, kindness, and laughter.

Her selfless love did not come with an off switch and she will forever be cherished by the many lives she has touched.

Lillian enjoyed a good game of cards, crossword puzzles, and her creative energy resulted in many handknitted socks, sweaters and baby outfits, as well as crocheted afghans. She blessed many people with her love of baking squares, cookies and pies. Lillian also volunteered her time with the Canadian Cancer Society and the Girl Guides of Canada.

Lillian will be forever cherished and remembered by her daughter, Evelyn Anne "Cissy" Parker; son Michael Roland Farmer (Sherri); grandchildren, Shannon Arsenault (Farmer), Bruce and Andrew Parker, Autumn and Maddie Farmer.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband John Bond; first husband, Robert Farmer; son Robbie; sisters, Rosa Kathleen "Kaye" Jefferson and Sylvia Ann Wright.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 1:00 pm in the Elm Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, our family requests that memorial donations be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
