Kitty Marie Hunter, age 84, peacefully passed away on November 1, 2021 in her home in the comfort of her loved ones. Born in Marriott's Cove on March 24, 1937, to the late Murray and Blanche (Lantz) Countway.

She was a faithful and very active member of the Upper Vaughan Baptist Church; and Kitty enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, with a fond love of hot dogs. She was known for her knitting and would often be seen in the woodpile or mowing her lawn. She loved birds and enjoyed the company of her cat Missy.

Kitty started her first home with Junior, she enjoyed Bayswater and Graves Island with John and the family, along with skating on the pond with the grandchildren and games at the kitchen table. Long drives on the four-wheeler and truck with Ron, and their hobby of picking up deposit paid bottles.

Having a close knitted bond to family and friends, she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by brother, Jimmy Countway and sister, Claudette Heisler; she also leaves behind her children Catherine (Allen) Swinimer, Lee (Barb) Rafuse, and Wanda Armstrong; step-children Fred (Patricia) Hunter and Gary (Debbie) Hunter; grandchildren, Joey Swinimer, Chris Rafuse, Tracy Swinimer, Amy Quinlivan-Hall, Allie Patterson, Kelsey Swinamer, Vicki Perrin, Jimmy Hunter, Joey Hunter, Jeannie Miccoluca, and Johnny Hunter; and blessed with many great-grandchildren. She was also an official foster parent to other children.

Kitty was predeceased by her husbands, Clark Junior Rafuse, John Armstrong, and Ronald Hunter; daughter, Diane Rafuse; brother, Floyd Countway; sisters, Dorothy Eddy, Marion Rafuse, Mable Siefert, and Carol Rafuse.

God looked around His garden,

and found an empty place,

He then looked down upon the Earth,

and saw your tired face.

He put His arms around you,

and lifted you to rest,

God's garden must be beautiful,

He always takes the best.

It broke our hearts to lose you,

But you didn't go alone,

For part of us went with you,

The day God took you home.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial donations, in Kitty’s memory, may be made to the Upper Vaughan Baptist Church by calling (902) 798-0850. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
