Brooks (Gough), Catherine Geraldine “Cassie, age 70, resident of East Preston passed away on February 13, 2022, peacefully surrounded by her family at the Dartmouth General Hospital, Dartmouth, NS. Cassie was born in Upper Hammonds Plains, a daughter of the late Ellsworth and Evelyn (Johnson) Gough.  Cassie graduated from Sydney Steven High School with honours, while skipping two grades in her early school years. Cassie graduated from secondary school, then secured a job with the City of Halifax as a key punch operator. Cassie also earned her accounting/bookkeeping diploma later in life, which paired well with her entrepreneurial mindset.  With that mindset, Cassie operated a community canteen, a retail business which specialized in fashionable church hats, clothing, hair products and accessories.  Cassie reached her many clients through home-based parties, store front and, lastly but not least, creating a space in her dining room known as "Cassie's Touch".  Cassie served her communities in many capacities. She was a committed member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, East Preston United Baptist Church and New Beginnings Ministries, respectively, over the years. Her love for her Saviour was seen through the many church positions she held using her accounting skills, her love of music and her way of wanting things done right and in excellence. Cassie found much joy during her time as Choir Director, Church Administrator, Finance Chair, Pastoral search committee chair and also served on various other boards in many capacities.  Cassie was also heavily involved in the East Preston Community as a board member of the East Preston Recreation Centre for many years.
