Craig Norton

Obituary of Craig James Norton

Please share a memory of Craig to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Our sadness overwhelms us as we say goodbye to Craig J. Norton, 62, of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia. Craig passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 21, 2022. Born on January 19, 1960 in St. John’s, Nfld, he was the son of the late Clara Kathryn (nee Mugridge) and Donald Craig Norton.

Craig is survived by his loving wife Sherrill (nee Walters); two sons, Kenny (Mary Bruer) and Sam Norton; brother Ken Norton; sister Liz MacLaughlan (Ian); and nephews, Alex and Kyle MacLaughlan.

Craig loved music and was especially fond of rock. He particularly liked the Beatles, who had a huge influence on his life. Craig was an avid hockey fan and followed the Detroit Red Wings. Many good nights were spent watching a game while enjoying a cold beer with friends. He loved trying new craft beers with his friends, including his brother-in-law, Ian. He enjoyed many trips to Quarryville, NB for family gatherings and guy weekends.

Craig worked for over 30 years as a Respiratory Therapist. The majority of his time working was at the IWK Children’s Hospital and with EHS Lifeflight. Craig loved to fly in the helicopters at work and was instrumental in saving many babies and children’s lives. He loved his job immensely and made many great friends throughout his working life.

Craig was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was a thoughtful man with a wonderfully dry sense of humour who was loved and admired by all those who knew him.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Royal Canadian Legion (1341 Main Road, Eastern Passage) on Wednesday, July 27th from 2-4pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the IWK Children’s Hospital. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
