Service has been delayed due to impending storm

Shirley Ann Keddy, 83 of Aldersville, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2022 with her loving family by her side in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in the Forties on September 26, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Bessie Hiltz.

Shirley’s first job was at Canada Foods in Kentville, after which she changed jobs to work at the Ross Farm Museum for 34-years. Shirley was also devoted to her faith and took care of the books for the St. James Anglican Church in Aldersville and president of the New Ross Golden Age Club. Shirley enjoyed talking to everyone she met, loved square dancing, playing cards, planning lunches and food for weddings (making beautiful wedding cakes), and enjoyed going to bingo.

Most of Shirley’s enjoyment came from the pride and joy she held for her family. She adored her husband, Gardner, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. And, they all loved and adored her just as much.

Left with fond memories are her sons, David (Lisa) of Blue Mountain; Derek (Valerie) of Aldersville; Steven of Aldersville; Kenneth (Jeannie) of Coldbrook; Neil (Anne) of Coldbrook; daughter, Betty (Leon Corbett) of Aldersville; brothers, Jim of Bridgewater; Doug (Francis) of Mill Road; Bob (Barb) of the Forties; Bill (Glenda) of Porter’s Lake; Rick (Wendy) of Walden; Marg (Harry) of Walden; Rhena (Hub) of Western Shore; Lillian (Eddie) of Hantsport; grandchildren, Kimber; Bradley; Danielle; Alisha; Chelsea; Brittany; Joshua; Brandon; great-grandchildren, Danny; Katelyn; Logan; Sonya; Alexia; Ethan; Ryan; Bryson; Dana; great great-granddaughter, Mylah; also many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gardner; son, Danny (1963); sister, Dora; great great-granddaughter, Skyla Mae Johnson; and parents-in-law, Guy and Evelyn Keddy.

A visitation will take place on Thurdsay, September 29, 2022, 4-9 pm in the New Ross Serenity Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the New Ross Christ Anglican Church, Rev. June Keddy officiating. Burial will follow in the St. James Anglican Cemetery in Aldersville. Memorial donations, in Shirley’s memory, may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home New Ross Funeral Chapel, 4935 Hwy #12, New Ross, B0J 2M0 (902-689-2961).
